Cross-Canada Trip: Leg 2 Preview

The Hubby and I are embarking on a 2 week long Vancouver to Montreal trip in September, so we’ve started the early stages of planning. I’ll be doing some posts with research on the different legs of the trip. Today’s installment talks about Leg 2 from Edmonton to Regina.

The Last Saskatchewan Pirate was apparently Finnish!

The Edmonton to Alberta leg of the trip is sort of the beginning of uncharted scenic territories.  We have seen things that are pretty flat before.  Namely the steppe of Wyoming along I-80 on our USA road trip last year. But from what I’ve heard, the Prairies are like Wyoming, but, you know, not ugly.

Live at Squamish

A group of us went to the Live at Squamish festival the weekend of August 20th. I was a little nervous about it – most festivals have a tendency to treat their patrons like cattle with bags o’money – and I’ve been a little crowd nervous these days. I went, armed with a plan of sunning myself while listening to some decent bands and the mantra “not my problem”!

Cross-Canada Trip: Leg 1 Preview

The Hubby and I are embarking on a 2 week long Vancouver to Montreal trip in September, so we’ve started the early stages of planning. I’ll be doing some posts with research on the different legs of the trip. We’ll begin today with Leg 1: Vancouver to Edmonton, codename: Rocky Mountain Sunset.

Oh the Rockies! I will miss the drama! Lake Edith Cavell in Jasper National Park.

It’s just over a month away that we embark on our big cross-Canada adventure! The first leg of the trip will be kind of our Farewell to the Rocky Mountains, and the dramatic scenery that they create.

Welcome

Good Morning!

I say good morning because I feel like I am waking up after a long time dormant as a blogger.  This is my welcome back post! The blog gets its name from my favourite Dan Mangan song, Et Les Mots Croisés, which I think is a good, simple outlook on life:

All broke all beat, all twisted feet

And so on, and so forth

So don’t steal don’t lie, just tie your tie

And go on, and go forth

I started this blog because the Hubby and I will soon be embarking on a cross-Canada adventure for a few years. We will be moving first to Montreal, then potentially to Halifax and Ottawa, all over the course of about 18 months. I am also undergoing the arduous process of immigration to Canada. So you will hear a lot about those two things. You will also probably hear a lot about The Dahg (said like Brad Pitt in Snatch), who is the gooniest dog in the world.

There will also be posts on music, which I like to treat like literature; and history, which I am a huge nerd about. I also work in the sexual health field as well, so you will see some posts on sexual health politics and news. I cook, and just got some fancy new gadgets for our wedding in July – recipes will be generally gluten-free, and a lot will be vegetarian.  I love planning trips, but I have scarce funds, so I will probably post a few wishful-travels itineraries. And then there will be pretty things. Lots of other pretty things.

So welcome!
